Jim Dombrowski, Superintendent
Jim earned his MBA from Baldwin-Wallace University and received a Bachelor of Science from Cleveland State University. He earned certifications in Executive Leadership from the Generative Leadership Group; Project Management from the Project Management Institute; Professional Speaking from Toastmasters International; and Nonpro t Board Leadership from Business Volunteers Unlimited. Jim has been a Guest Lecturer at Cleveland State University’s College of Urban Affairs. He earns his Graduate Certification in Nonprofit Management from Cleveland State University in 2016.
Mr. Dombrowski is active in Non Profit Leadership. Since 2012, he has been Chairman of the Advancement Committee for Stepstone Academy and founded the Stepstone Academy Golf Classic charity event. Prior experiences include: Board Member for the Lake County Entrepreneurs Club; Board President for Eastlake Chamber of Commerce; and Chapter President for Toastmasters.
Toni Miller, Principal
(Superintendent’s Certificate, M. Ed., Elem. Admin., BS, Elem. Education), Toni has 20 years of experience as a principal in inner-ring suburban and urban settings. She has served as Head of School at Douglas MacArthur Girls Leadership Academy, a successful, single gender Pre K –8 school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Douglas MacArthur Academy has received the rating of Effective on the State of Ohio’s academic report card for three years, and made the 2012 Honor Roll for the National Excellence in Urban Education. Her mission as an educator is to change the face of urban education through innovative practice to maximize the success of both the student and family.
Kelly Krupa, Assistant Principal
(M. Ed, B.S. Early Childhood Education, OH Teaching Licensure, OH Administrative Principal Licensure) Throughout Kelly's career in education, she has taught at the primary level in an urban setting, while holding endorsements in Reading and Technology (grades K-12). In addition, she is a founding member of Stepstone Academy and is now in her fourth year serving at the administrative level. She is passionate about the education field, building a strong school culture, and setting the tone for students' success both in and out of the classroom.
Karil Stohlman, Assistant Principal
(M. Ed, B.S Elementary Education, OH Teaching Licensure) Karil has 24 years of experience in teaching and school administration at schools in the greater Cleveland area. Her experience includes both suburban and urban education in private, public, and public charter school settings. She is passionate about charter school education and the school choice initiative. She believes that each and every student is capable of being successful. It is her mission to help the students she serves to see their own true potential and help them aspire to greatness.
(MSSA, LISW-S), Jill has been in the field of social work for 20 years, and has been working for OhioGuidestone since 2003. Prior to her position at Stepstone Academy, she worked as a child therapist. Jill utilizes her ability to connect well with people to raise awareness in the community about Stepstone Academy.
Virginia Runner, Director of School Operations
Virgie Runner has 12 years’ experience in Educational Administrative Support working with urban youth in Cleveland, including 9 years in community charter schools. She currently serves as School Operations Manager for Stepstone Academy focusing in data integrity and state compliance and reporting. Virgie attended Cuyahoga Community College and Fairmont State University. She believes in the power of educating children to bring about lasting change in their lives and in the lives of their families. Stepstone Academy gives her the opportunity to make an investment in the future. As Dr. Suess says, “The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Stepstone Scholars are going places, and Mrs. Runner feels privileged to be a part of the journey.
